Dopo il processo svoltosi in Francia agli inizi del Trecento e dopo la sua soppressione, è calato sul Tempio un velo di omertà, specialmente in Francia ed in Italia. Tutti i documenti relativi all’Ordine sono stati gelosamente custoditi per secoli in archivi riservati, quando non sono addirittura andati distrutti per negligenza (basti pensare agli speziali ed ai droghieri parigini che, nei primi anni del secolo scorso, acquistarono da funzionari papali una gran quantità di documenti, relativi a questo e ad altri processi, per usarli come carta da imballi).
Fortunately for some time, things are changing and awakening a deep interest in the affairs of the Order, perhaps even in the wake of a general rediscovery of the Middle Ages.
E 'in this context that we find the L REE A SSOCIAZIONE R ESEARCH T EMPLARI I Talian (LARTI point) that was established in 1983, is perhaps one of the few to deal with the history of the Temple in a serious and documented. The main purpose that unites all the members of the Art is the study of the history of the Order the Temple and its settlements in Italy. Given the mystique that surrounds him, the accusations of heresy and magic that have been made and the alleged sexual deviancy, the Order is easy prey to morbid attention from many.
The LARTI point deviates from that operating in a historically documented, as amply demonstrated by the annual conferences held throughout Italy, from which reports have emerged all over (the revelations about the life of the last preceptor of Italy, Jacopo da Montecucco, assumptions on the translation of the Holy House of Loreto, and identification of the Templar church of San Giuliano di Civitavecchia, just to name a few). The reports, corredate da ampie bibliografie, vengono riunite nei volumi degli Atti.

I Convegni, principale attività della LARTI, sono tenuti in città che hanno ospitato i Templari, o in località vicine.
Al primo, tenuto ad Aicurzio (1983), hanno fatto seguito quelli di: Maruggio (1984), Casale Monferrato (1985), L’Aquila (1986), Castel Rigone (1987), San Marino (1988), Ascoli Piceno (1989), Sermoneta (1990), San Quirino (1991), Poggibonsi (1992), Trento (1993), Argenta (1994), Moncucco Torinese (1995), Nola (1996), Castrocaro Terme (1997), Treviso (1998), Chiaravalle Milanese (1999), Altopascio (2000), Villafranca Lunigiana (2001), Barlow (2002), Savona (2003), Trieste (2004), Cervia (2005), Bellaria-Igea Marina (2006), Tuscania (2007), Moncucco Torinese (2008) and Cividate Camuno (2009) .
From Castel Rigone Conference introduced a collective report on the false and mis-looking temple, dutiful and useful reports that LARTI point it is deemed obligated to do because of the large proliferation of false, baseless theories and news no.
LARTI point since 1998 has formed a partnership with the French association Empreintes et Traditions des Maures et Cogolin Provence (Provence), creating the JIFRET (Jumelage Italo-Français de Recherche et d'Etude Templier), for a comparison of research, knowledge and skills for a better approach to the medieval world.
LARTI point in 2000 launched a Templar essay prize reserved for graduates in any discipline, who have discussed a thesis on the Order of the Temple.
